Privacy
SacFM counts visits with Google Analytics and keeps the tips people send through the Request Line. This page explains what each one keeps and how to have your tip deleted.
Counting Visits
SacFM uses Google Analytics 4, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to count visits and see which pages people read. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and records the pages you view, the site that sent you, your device and browser, and an approximate location that Google works out from your IP address. We see those numbers as totals and can't tell who any visitor is.
Google handles that data under its privacy policy and explains how it uses information from sites that use its services. To opt out, block cookies for sacfm.com in your browser or install Google's opt-out add-on. The site works the same either way.
The Maps
The farm maps load their map images from OpenFreeMap. Like any server your browser asks for an image, it receives your IP address. SacFM sends it nothing else.
Request Line Tips
A tip sent through the Request Line keeps what you type into the form: the restaurant, the dish, the farm, where and when you saw it, and your note.
If you ask to be credited, we keep the name you give and may print it with the entry your tip helped. If you leave your name out, the tip is anonymous.
The email address or Instagram handle is optional. We use it only to ask you a follow-up question. It is never published, and we delete it when we finish reviewing your tip.
Photos have their location and camera data removed before they're stored. We use them only to check your tip, never post them, and delete them once the tip is resolved.
Cloudflare uses your IP address to limit how many tips one connection can send in a minute, which keeps out spam. Your IP address isn't saved with your tip.
Tips are kept in a private Cloudflare database that only SacFM can open. After review, the tip stays on file without your contact or photos as the record of where an entry came from.
If you send a tip to tips@sacfm.com or message @themklibrary on Instagram, your message stays in that inbox or account.
What SacFM Doesn't Do
SacFM has no ads, accounts or newsletter. We don't sell or share personal information with anyone. Apart from the analytics cookies, the site saves nothing in your browser.
Deleting a Tip
Email tips@sacfm.com with the restaurant and the day you sent it, and we'll delete your tip, including any name you asked us to credit. Questions about this page go to the same address.
Who Runs SacFM
SacFM is made by Michael Kahn of MK Library in Sacramento, California. If SacFM starts collecting anything new, this page will say so first.
