About the vineyard
The Heringer family has farmed in Clarksburg since 1868, when John Heringa came from Holland; seven generations have grown alfalfa, corn, sugar beets and tomatoes.
Planted its first vineyard in the 1970s; winemaker Mike Heringer established Heringer Estates in 2003. Has sold at certified farmers markets for about 10 years.
